Chun-Li is a character from the Street Fighter videogame series The first — and perhaps still the most famous — female competitor in 2D fighting games, Chun-Li is one of the Street Fighter franchise’s icons. She remains a fan favorite years after her debut — her absence from the original Street Fighter III caused considerable outcry. Before competing in the second and third World Warrior tournaments, she worked as an agent for Interpol, the international police force. Her primary target, M. Bison, was responsible for her father’s death, besides the myriad other criminal activities of the Shadoloo organization. Alongside Guile and Charlie (among others), she was able to stop Bison’s deadly Psycho Drive device and destroy the base in Thailand that housed it. That earned her an invitation to the second World Warrior tournament, where Bison hoped to take revenge on all of the fighters who’d interrupted his plans. After Bison’s defeat, she returned to police work, with a sideline teaching children the martial arts — the kidnapping of one of her students led to a confrontation with Urien in the third World Warrior tournament.
