DVD: The Lucy Show is an American situation comedy that aired on CBS from 1962 until 1968. It was Lucille Ball’s follow-up to I Love Lucy. A significant change in cast and premise for the 1965-66 season divides the program into two distinct eras; aside from Ball, only Gale Gordon, who joined the program for its second season, remained. For the first three seasons, Vivian Vance was the costar. The earliest scripts were entitled The Lucille Ball Show, but all episodes aired with the title The Lucy Show. Ball won two Emmy Awards as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for this show, for the years 1966-67 and 1967-68. Lucille Désirée Ball (August 6, 1911 — April 26, 1989) was an American comedian, film, television, stage and radio actress, model, film and television executive, and star of the sitcoms I Love Lucy, The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour, The Lucy Show, Here’s Lucy and Life With Lucy. One of the most popular and influential stars in America during her lifetime, with one of Hollywood’s longest careers, especially on television, Ball began acting in the 1930s, becoming both a radio actress and B-movie star in the 1940s, and then a television star during the 1950s. She was still making films in the 1960s and 1970s. Ball received thirteen Emmy Award nominations and four wins. She was the recipient of the Golden Globe Cecil B. Just the theme song of this show sends waves of nostalgia through my heart. I remember being younger than 5 years old and watching this show with my dad in our Georgia home. Such good times.

The Lucy Show & Here’s Lucy are my favorite Lucy tv shows, i actually prefer the 2- especially Here’s Lucy to the classic series I Love Lucy. I love the chemisty between Mr. Mooney and Mary Jane with Lucy. I love black and white tv, but Lucy looks striking in color, and i love all the famous actors that were on the show. I have seen I Love Lucy a million times, so i guess the later shows are more funny to me. A Lucy fan forever.

i like black and white better

For those who lived during that era, the 1960’s are regarded as the “left over 50’s.” This actually has some sad undertones when you watch the great actors in their heyday of the the 50’s, and their continuous struggle to maintain the standards of the production code, all the while being displaced the filth of the bobbysoxer generation.

When Ruta Lee broke up at the very end…Lucy did after cameras cut – she thought….you can see at the end when she looks off camera and laughs. Just a tad of trivial trivia.
